Blog Tour {Giveaway} Escaping Heartbreak by Regina Bartley

 Synopsis

It’s time for Sawyer to start living her life. Since she was fifteen she has taken care of everyone but herself, including her older brother Dane. She has been lying to herself to keep from feeling the pain of her parent’s death. Now she is twenty and she’s ready to start a life of her own. Moving into her parent’s lake house would be the perfect escape. Wouldn’t it? That’s what she thought. Only, it led her right into the emotional place she’s been hiding from all this time. All of those years of running from her feelings, she now has to face them. It’s too much. She can’t deal with it alone. Someone has to help. She’ll do anything to escape the heartbreak, but you can only run so far.

Travis can’t believe his eyes; his half-opened, blood shot eyes. Sawyer Evans was in the flesh and standing over him. He hadn’t seen this girl since he was ten years old. Travis only saw the Evan’s during the summer when they moved into the lake house. He and Dane were best friends. When Dane invited him and the old gang to a welcome back party at the Lake House, he couldn’t wait to go. It turns out getting wasted was only half the fun. Seeing Sawyer was the other half. She was the sexiest girl he’d ever seen and he was going to make sure that she knew it. Only she shot him down time and time again. He’s determined to break down those walls and get inside her head, but he’ll have to be sober to do it, and no matter how hard he tries, she’ll always run. He can’t keep chasing her. He has to figure out a way to make her stay.

It’s time to stop running, stop hiding, and start learning where the true escape lies. Everyone will face heartbreak, but not everyone will find love.

Stand Alone Novel for ages 18+ due to graphic language, and sexual content.

Darkness Deserved

Friday night at the bar was busy. Every table was full all night and the bar was packed as well. I couldn’t have been happier. It was ten o’clock as I was making my rounds through the crowd checking tables and helping Emma, Beth and Mya, my waitresses, out.

I had just finished setting down a round of shots at a table full of sorority girls and turned around to go back to the bar, when I felt a tingle start at the top of my head and move toward my groin. When it settled and my clit began to throb I just knew. I knew it was my Adonis.

Here at last.

Dammit.

I was hoping I could just go through life without this temptation. It’s okay Harper. You wore your big girl panties tonight so quit being such a fucktwat and grow a pair. I make my way to the bar as if I notice nothing and set the tray down for Mark and Rory, my bartenders tonight.

I head towards the end of the bar to take care of some orders I need to make, when I feel his presence beating against me from behind. It’s like he already owns my body. My skin begins to tingle, my heartbeat speeds up, and my breathing becomes shallow as I try to control it. I can feel the vein in my neck throbbing relentlessly. On the outside I know I appear composed and nonchalant, but inside- inside- I feel ready to burst.

I just want Adonis to grab me, throw me on the bar and fill me as I know only he can at this moment. He brings both arms around me so that his hands are resting on the bar and he has me trapped between it and himself. He leans in and I can feel his breath wash over my exposed neck. I inhale his scent: soap, Armani and Adonis. God, I want him to bend me over. A million different scenarios run through my mind of how to close down the bar so I can please this man.

And that’s when I stop and ice runs through my veins. I spent four years pleasing men. I was not going down that path again.

Ascending Darkness
Prologue
It’s been years since I lived and breathed this way. Years since I had to wonder what would happen next. I’ve been lucky; living the good life and having whatever I wanted. I suppose I couldn’t really have it all; too greedy. It was never about money, though….

It was about being out of this life, having something more.

Living.

I don’t know if Nikko and Breccan know yet what has happened, or if they can even do anything about it. I imagine they will try and I hope they succeed, but how in the hell are they even going to find me? I don’t even know where I am or how I got here. How can two people that weren’t there do anything about it?

I look around the mostly dark room. The walls are a grayish color which looks to be from stains to the once white walls. The carpet is dark, almost a greenish color. There is a small bed in the corner with a table and a lamp that hardly sheds any light in this room. It smells musty in here, like a cemented basement.

Maybe it is a basement.

I was unconscious when they took me and woke up in this room.

I sigh and sit up on the bed so that I am facing the door. My hands are still tied with nylon rope and my wrists are raw, so it hurts to move them too much.

The door starts to open and I watch.

He walks in with the same grimy smile he always had.

I hate you!

He walks closer to the bed, looks down at me and says, “Hey, babe. You’ve been busy. Looks like it’s time to pay your dues. Pants off. Now.”

Excerpt from Heart Shaped Rock by Laura Roppé
Tiffany pulls the car alongside a dude on a motorcycle. He’s wearing beat-up jeans, a black leather jacket, combat boots, and a huge black helmet on his head. The helmet features a tinted front visor that completely covers his entire face. The helmet swivels, and the front visor fixates in my direction.
“Boom shakalaka,” Tiff says.
I glance around. It’s a party atmosphere out on the street—there are people practically dancing up and down the sidewalk and boardwalk—and for some reason, I don’t feel the least bit like myself right now. Why not give it a whirl?
Keeping the motorcycle dude in my peripheral vision, I put the walkie-talkie up to my mouth and try to look like I’m mumbling something important. I pretend to listen to an important message on my walkie-talkie, and then I glance directly at him, as if the message pertains to him.
His black-helmeted head remains uncannily trained in my direction. It feels like the dude’s staring right at me, but I can’t see under that dang visor to know for sure.
“Pull over,” I mouth, pointing to the shoulder of the road.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he immediately slows down and veers off to the right shoulder.
I guess that answers that question—he most certainly was staring right at me.
Oh, crap. I’m losing my nerve.
Tiffany slows her car and follows him to the shoulder. When his motorcycle comes to a complete stop, he rests his feet on the asphalt for balance. His legs are strong under those jeans. Tiffany parks right behind him.
“You go, Tiffany,” I beg. I feel sick. Why did I agree to do this?
“Oh hell, no. It’s your turn.”
            I don’t move.
“Go on,” Tiff says. “Get your skinny little butt out there and impersonate an officer of the law.”
The dude on the motorcycle swings his head back to look at me and then raises his hands into the air, as if to say, well?
Fine. In one deliberate and rather pissy motion, I swing my car door open and stomp out of the car. Slamming my car door shut, I march over to the guy, holding my walkie-talkie in my hand.
Right on cue, Tiffany begins spewing dispatcher-sounding blah-blah-blah through my walkie-talkie. “Car seven-oh-seven, do you copy?” Tiffany says. I turn back around to the car, seeking permission to beg off, but she’s slumped down behind the dash and not visible. Oh, that’s smooth, Tiffany. Surely, this guy thinks our car drives itself like Herbie the Lovebug.
I reach him. I’m standing on his left, two inches from his thigh.
He swivels his head at me. He’s Darth Vader in his big black helmet and tinted visor.
“Sir,” I say, trying to sound official. I clear my throat. “Could you please flip the visor up?”
Was that a laugh from inside that helmet?
His hand comes up to the visor, and he opens it to reveal startling, cobalt blue eyes—the most gorgeous eyes I’ve ever seen, as a matter of fact. The kind of eyes that could make a girl’s heart skip a beat, if that hypothetical girl happened to have a beating heart in the first place.
His eyes look at me expectantly. He shifts his weight.
I can’t figure out what I want to say. I can’t do this. I should walk away.
He raises his eyebrows. “What can I do for you?” His voice betrays the smirk hidden beneath the lower half of his helmet. “Are you lost, little girl?”
I stumble for words. “No, sir.”
            He bursts out laughing.
“What’s so funny?” I put my hands on my hips. “What the hell are you laughing at?”
He laughs even harder. “I’m laughing at you.”

Blog Tour {Excerpt} Grishma by Kelly Blount

In the world of Necoh, everyone fears Grishma, a hideous murderous beast responsible for ruining or ending the lives of anyone who dare cross her.

As a young boy, Ryder lived with his family, deep in the caves underneath the Kadin Forest, unaware of the horrors of the world. His simple world was turned upside down one horrible night when Grishma attacked his family, killing his father and kidnapping his mother and younger sister.

From that night on, Ryder devoted his life to killing Grishma. He tracked the monster from Necoh, to our world, and back again. Unfortunately, during his quest, he accidentally transported Brooklyn, a high school junior into his tumultuous world, where she is mistakenly identified as Princess Sophie, the missing princess of Sumner.

Days after Princess Sophie’s return, Grishma plots and manipulates the King into drugging and marrying off his only daughter to Prince Algid of Dratun. Desperate to save Brooklyn, who now believes she is the long lost princess, his mother, and his little sister, Ryder embarks on the deadliest part of his quest.

Will he save Brooklyn? Will she ever regain her memory? What will become of his mother and sister?

Through epic adventure, loss, and love, GRISHMA depicts the strength of the human spirit and the tight bonds formed by the unique creatures of Necoh.

Excerpt

The tears kept coming as she slowed to a walk. Further and further away from the best friend who had deceived her and the boy who’d broken her heart. She wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but Brooklyn soon became aware that she had no idea where she was. A forest and gently sloping hills surrounded her and it became difficult to navigate her way through the terrain. Her only light was the full moon above.

“Great, I look like a hot mess and I’m probably werewolf or vampire bait,” Brooklyn said, sitting down for a minute to get her bearings. Crickets chirped and the wind rustled in the trees. Then, suddenly, everything went quiet. Chills raced up her spine. She looked around. “Hello?”

She heard a loud snap, followed by several cracks in the distance. Whatever was making that noise was on the move and closing in fast. The smell of rotting fish filled her nose and she gagged. What the hell is going on? Her heart thumped in her chest. She looked for somewhere to hide but the abnormally bright moon made that difficult.

All of a sudden, a figure crashed through the trees and collided with her. She hit the ground and her shoes went flying into the air. Her elbow hit a rock. She tried to sit up, but couldn’t. The wind rushed from her lungs. Panic set in. What just happened? What hit me? Did I break anything? Thoughts bombarded her mind as she attempted to take a breath. She started gasping for air. After a few moments, she sat up and looked around.

“What the hell are you doing here?” a loud angry voice shouted at her. Brooklyn spun around. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. Ryder stood before her, with sweat dripping off his brow. His eyes frantically searched the woods behind her.

“Excuse me?” she snapped as she attempted to brush the damp leaves and moss off of her clothes.

“Get up! Hurry!” Ryder commanded in a hushed voice reaching out for Brooklyn’s hand. “We don’t have much time!”

“Huh?” she said.

Ryder grabbed her hand and pulled her up roughly. “Follow me,” he whispered.

Brooklyn hesitated. What was Ryder doing out here in the woods? Why did he want her to follow him? What was he going to do to her if she didn’t follow him? Another loud crash echoed through the dense, quiet forest.

“Quick! Cover your ears!” Ryder instructed.

“Why?” Brooklyn asked.

“Do it or die!” Ryder snapped at her. No more questions, she covered her ears. A noise like nothing she had ever heard before pierced her eardrums. Tears welled up in her eyes. The shriek left a ringing sensation bouncing around in her head accompanied by a blinding pain.

“What is it?” she barely managed a whisper.

“That’s Grishma,” Ryder said seriously.
