Book Trailer Release {Giveaway} PRESS PLAY by Eric Devine

PRESS PLAY
Author: Erid Devine
Release Date: October 28, 2014
Publisher: Running Press Kids

Greg Dunsmore, a.k.a. Dun the Ton, is focused on one thing: making a documentary that will guarantee his admission into the film school of his choice. Every day, Greg films his intense weight-loss focused workouts as well as the nonstop bullying that comes from his classmates. But when he captures footage of violent, extreme hazing by his high school’s championship-winning lacrosse team in the presence of his principal, Greg’s field of view is in for a readjustment.

Greg knows there is a story to be told, but it is not clear exactly what. And his attempts to find out the truth only create more obstacles, not to mention physical harm upon himself. Yet if Greg wants to make his exposé his ticket out of town rather than a veritable death sentence, he will have to learn to play the game and find a team to help him.

Combine the underbelly of Friday Night Lights with the unflinching honesty of Walter Dean Myers, and you will find yourself with Eric Devine’s novel of debatable truths, consequences, and realities.

Book Blitz {Excerpt & Giveaway} Undertow by K.R. Conway

Undertow (Undertow #1)
Release Date: 10/18/13

Summary from Goodreads:
Luckless Eila is unknowingly the last of her kind: Rare. Gifted. Breakable. Stunning Raef is her kind's historic enemy: Soulless. Lethal. Lost. A legendary death 160 years before would set their lives to collide, forcing a beautiful killer to become a savior, a simple wallflower to become a warrior, and ruthless destiny to become a death sentence.

SUMMARY:
High school senior Eila Walker knows that good luck skips over her like an Easter Bunny on Speed. So when she inherits her grandmother's million-dollar Cape Cod home, she is downright shocked. And yeah, her new town isn't perfect: the cheerleaders are heinous clones, the local undertow can kill ya, and her Great Grams was supposedly fried by lightning in the harbor square. Still, Eila is hopeful her luckless days are in the past . . . until history decides to repeat itself.

A self-proclaimed loner and previous-social reject, Eila thinks she's hit the jackpot when drool-worthy Raef O’Reilly becomes her friendly, yet weirdly protective shadow. But being hauled beneath the waves by an unnatural undertow slams the brakes on bliss – especially when Raef storms to her aid with coal-black eyes and iron-like strength.

Eila, entirely freaked, demands an explanation and Raef comes clean, revealing that neither of them are average humans but rather the genetic remnants of an angelic pissing-match gone wrong. Eila supposedly can channel the power of human souls, while Raef is quite adept at stealing them. Even worse, the legend about her ancestor isn't such a myth, since Eila’s grandmother was one kick-ass warrior until her lightning-like power backfired. A power that is written all over Eila's DNA.

Now sought by Raef’s own family for her destructive ability, Eila must trust him to watch her back. But when a quest for information goes terribly wrong, Eila is suddenly left with only two options: become a weapon for the enemy or follow in her Gram’s fearless footsteps to save those she loves. Unfortunately she needs a willing enemy to ignite her suicidal energy and the only one she trusts has been guarding her butt and scorching her lips.

Raef’s POV

Five weeks ago, I nearly killed the girl I loved.

It wasn't an accident. It wasn't a mistake.

I did it deliberately, and the feeling of her body weakening in my arms haunts me still, as if branded into my hands. The sound of her last, thin breath replays over and over in my mind, a taunting reminder of what I am capable of and what I had done.

She carries the mark of where I had forced a stolen soul into her - a thin, finger-long scar engraved between her breasts.

She tries to hide it, but I know it's there.

She will carry that scar to her grave, a permanent reminder of who I truly am - a killer, designed by the darker hand of fate.

The scar had bled down her beautiful, fair skin that night, turning the bodice of the white ball gown she had worn into a sickening, mottled pink. In my mind I see her, lifeless, tucked under me as I try to shield her from the pieces of falling stone and wood that rain down around us. Debris that was from the massive hole her energy had drilled through the Breakers. Energy that was unleashed when her body switched to overload, and her DNA hit the self-destruct button because of me.

Summary from Goodreads

In the town of Belle Ridge there are doctors, lawyers and teachers... but there is only one vampire. Will Leighton has become an expert in making a life for himself amongst the unsuspecting small-town inhabitants, as the high school history teacher. He has spent hundreds of years crafting an identity and routine that make him feel almost human, but he is always missing that important final element, love.

Ashton Wallace is beautiful, smart, and angry. She was forced into an eternal existence, and now her family has moved her away from everything and everyone she knows. In Belle Ridge she is supposed to finish high school and start her life again, but how do you make plans for the next several centuries?

Will has never met another of his kind, and is immediately intrigued by Ashton. He longs to show her that the perceived vampire lifestyle, so popular in storybooks, is far from reality...but will she let him be a friend and guide in this new existence? Can Ashton accept Will into her life, or will she be led astray by a dark stranger with whom she shares an unknown connection?

Excerpt

Principal Moore walked out of the office with three people. They stopped just a few steps from Will. Without any doubt, Will knew exactly which of the three strangers he had been sensing. Being in such close proximity, the feeling became stronger. It was as though his existence had been in a free fall until this moment, and he hadn't even realized it. This young woman standing before him was a touchstone, a grounding force, a constant in an ever-changing sea. She was undoubtedly a citizen of his world; a world he had feared would never be populated beyond himself.

She possessed a regal bearing, and her porcelain face gave away nothing in the way of emotion. She was a complete mystery.

“Mr. Leighton, let me introduce you to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace and their daughter, Ashton. Ashton will be joining us as a senior.” Will extended his hand to the elder Wallace’s, but his eyes remained fixed on Ashton.

“Mr. and Mrs. Wallace, Will Leighton, I'm pleased to meet you, and pleased you will be attending Belle Ridge, Ashton.” He tried again to read her as he spoke. He couldn't decipher anything beyond the feeling of familiarity, and no matter how hard he tried, Ashton's emotions were impenetrable.

If he wasn't mistaken, Will thought there was a flicker of recognition in Ashton's eyes. Did she know? Before he could offer a hand to her, she spoke, her eyes avoiding his.

“Can we leave? I have stuff to do before tomorrow.” She looked at her parents and, before they could answer, walked out of the office and away from Will. The Wallace’s and Principal Moore quickly followed behind Ashton. He may have stood alone in the office, but Will knew for the first time, he wasn’t standing alone in the world.

About the Author
Eventually the day came when the voices in Kelley Lynn’s head were more insistent then her engineering professor’s. So instead of turning to her Thermodynamics book, Kelley brought up a blank page on her computer screen and wrote. Somewhere along the way she became a Young Adult author.

Kelley was born and raised a Midwestern girl. She’s not afraid to sweat and fills her free time with softball, soccer and volleyball. (Though you probably don’t want her on your volleyball team.) She occasionally makes guest appearances as a female vocalist for area bands. Music plays a large role in her writing process as well as the characters and plot lines within her stories.

Excerpt

Later, 9:45pm—Pink Palm Motel

I’m in Los Angeles, I’m tired, and I’m in the tackiest motel on the West Coast. I’m also already dreading the trip back home since I’ve decided I hate planes. The motel we’re staying at is painted this weird shade of salmon pink. As far as I can tell, LA is pretty sweet. It’s so different than Cedar Junction. It’s so crowded, and the air is thick with smog, which is something I’ve only read about. I can’t even see the horizon in Los Angeles. There are buildings everywhere I look. I’m also very disappointed to learn that the palm trees here don’t grow coconuts.
Mom has already hung up her favorite dream catchers all throughout the motel room. I don’t know how she managed to do it, but she’s already filled this place with the smell of incense and dried lavender. It smells like home; it’s wonderful.
I don’t know what to wear tomorrow. What does one wear to a meeting with recording studio executives? I suppose my Sketchers won’t really cut it. But I know it won’t make a difference what I wear. I doubt some fancy name-brand clothing will distract people from my gargantuan girth. Ugh, I’ve got to be body positive! Amanda’s always telling me to embrace myself, but that’s easier said than done.
I’m bullied every single day at school in Cedar Junction; why would Los Angeles be any different?

Excerpt
“Did they catch him? I don't remember his name, but I know what he looked like. I can tell the police.” Ashton wanted to make sure that guy, whoever he was, paid for what he had done.

Her parents exchanged troubled looks with one another.

“What's wrong? Is he saying it's my fault?” She looked from her mother to her father.

“He was found dead,” her father said with a grim face.

Ashton couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Just then, two police officers came into the room. She told them everything about the party, the drink, being pulled into the woods, and about the second man.

“A second man was there?” the officer asked.

“Yes, I couldn’t see him clearly, it was so dark and I was feeling so confused, but there was definitely a second man. He pulled the attacker off of me, and I could hear them struggling, and someone screamed. Then, he came to me and told me everything would be all right. That's the last thing I remember.” Ashton was exhausted. The previous night felt like some horrible dream.

The officers turned toward the door, like they were about to leave. Just as they were crossing into the hall, one of the officers turned and came back into the room.

“Miss, about the second man, is he the one who did this to you?” The officer motioned toward Ashton's neck. She lifted her hand and felt a large, thick bandage on her throat. When she pressed it, she winced in pain.

“I don't remember. I don't remember at all.” She felt a wave of panic. She had been injured in a gruesome manner, but she didn’t have any recollection of how it had happened. Even more unsettling was a strange sensation traveling through her body. Ashton realized something within her was different, something she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

The officers left, and Ashton asked her mother for a mirror. Reluctantly, Elaine Wallace retrieved the one in her purse, and handed it to her daughter.

Ashton opened the mirror and looked at herself. Remarkably, the horror of the night before didn’t seem to have left a mark on her face. Actually, she looked somewhat refreshed. She moved her hand to the bandage and began to remove it. When it fell away, she held the mirror up again and saw what the officers had asked her about.
On her neck were two large holes.
