Clan
Release Date: 11/12/13
Summary from Goodreads
Clans are Unity.
No variation. No deviation.
On Clades, to be a Clan is to be an exact copy.
A perfect society
cloning themselves to survive, even as the zombielike Frags threaten to overrun
them on an unforgiving planet.
Clan 1672 (privately known as Twain) was never supposed to survive the
Incubation Tank.
But he did.
Illegally.
He is different
from the other Clans.
A secret that could destroy him.
Excerpt
Twain trembled as the door slid shut.
The older Clans were ready to have him executed without a second glance. His
sponsor was right. He couldn’t possibly mingle with a society that was trained
to fear divergence. All of Twain’s days spent longing to be with his Clan
seemed irrational. Now that he didn’t have a choice, the only thing that was
left for him to do was focus on surviving. Dread and panic rose, remembering
the hate in Brisbane’s eyes.
Twigg
was silent and expressionless.
“Father,”
Twain finally spoke. “Why did you save us if you noticed we were mutated?”
“You
must stop asking questions,” Twigg replied coldly.
How
could Twain stop? He had just learned that the Incubation Tank he was born in
had been smuggled out of the Incubation Chamber somehow. That his sponsor broke
the very laws that he himself preached.
Twigg
sighed. “I should have never taken you out of the Incubation Chamber.”
An
unfamiliar sharpness clenched around Twain’s heart.
