BOOK TOUR & GIVEAWAY ~ Elegy by Christopher Stanfield

Elegy
A Season of Angels Book 3
by Christopher Stanfield
Genre: YA Supernatural Thriller, Mystery

Fate. Fear. Family.

Lilith’s daring gamble worked. Hell is broken. But in the aftermath, Lilith must face a disconcerting truth. She may never return to the life she left behind. While the pain of that parting never truly healed, she knows that the end of her dark road is near at hand. It is a road paved in sacrifice and loss. In memory and love. And she knows now where it leads.

But the end isn’t the only fate that Lilith must confront. A peculiar stranger beckons, bringing knowledge of a family secret that will unravel the mysteries of Lilith’s past. And what she discovers will shake her fragile world yet again.

Lucifer, enraged at the loss of the realm he twisted, is more dangerous than ever. He now prepares one last bitter scheme that will herald his most brutal act of all. For Lilith, one thing remains… the last, terrible storm is here. And though Madeline and the Angels are by her side, Lilith must stand alone before the Devil or all she loves will fall at last.

“And what about you?”
“I’m on the same road I was a year ago, just a little nearer to the end now.”
“Lucifer?” He shuddered as the name drifted in a whisper beyond his lips.
He shut his eyes and said nothing at first, and when it seemed like he might deign to speak, he turned and wrapped her in his strong, thick arms. Nothing else was said as they embraced, he was simply content to let his arms envelop her protectively.
If she let herself go, she might have cried. She had certainly shed her fair share of tears in the last few days, but she managed to keep them back even as he held her tight. There was a flurry of thoughts that scattered out of the shadows, but it was difficult to grasp any long enough to recognize what it was. At times, she could have sworn she saw the apparition of Tatiana’s face, her round cheeks framed by curly wisps of blonde hair. But the emotion that caught fire in her heart wasn’t the sadness of what was lost. It was love. A love unspoken, yes, but it was the one emotion she knew that mattered more than all the rest. More present even than the fear she often felt as her familiar road grew dark. In his warm embrace she held to the memory of her dearest friend, the one she loved, despite the absence of the courage needed to express how much.
“Whatever happens, you stay safe out there.” Lilith pulled back enough to meet his gaze. “I will.”
“You end him. For all of us. But I don’t want to see you beyond that damn Veil, not just yet. Do you hear me?”

The Woman in Darkness
A Season of Angels Book 2

The War for Souls has just begun, but time is already running out…

In the wake of one tragic, fateful night, Genevieve leaves behind every aspect of her simple life, including her name. Now she’s known as Lilith, and with the memories of her erased from those she loved, it’s as if she never existed. As she seeks her new purpose, dreams of a sad, broken woman with raven hair--- a woman in a place more terrible than nightmares--- continue to haunt her.

Madeline is a fractured soul trapped in Hell after taking her own life. Lilith believes this stranger may be the key to shattering Lucifer’s hold over that frightful realm. But to find Madeline she’ll need a soul who knows the fetid hellscape. A Demon has been sent. But he must first brave the dark of Hell and survive the madness in himself.

While Lilith sets her daring game in motion, Lucifer plots a scheme that will determine the fate of all souls, both living and in death. Lilith must get to Madeline, fast. For if she fails, there will be no end to the darkness Lucifer will bring.

Chapter 14

A name is a fragile thing. You never really think about it until it truly matters, and for Samael, it seemed to matter now in a way it never did before. His name was taken from him, forgotten in the endless torments of this forsaken place. All that remained was the name given to him by the Angel who raised him from the pit. He never hated that name as much as now. I have to find it again. Not the name Lucifer gave me. The name my mother chose. My name.
Me.
“Remember who you were,” he said to himself as he wandered along a shadowed field that stretched as far as his eyes could see. “Her name was Amani, and she loved you.”
Her deep brown skin, her stark green eyes. The raven color of her hair, and the way it tumbled down her shoulders. Those were the things that came back to him, the remnants of memories dragged out of a forgotten past. Amani was her name, and she knew what his had been. If only he could hear her voice once more; it might stir that one forgotten piece out of the shadows that kept it hidden.
But Hell tore away what was light and good within a human soul, leaving only the pall of shadows and the whispers of madness that never left. As a demon, Samael had done

everything he could to rid himself of fear. This place was rife with it, of course, and always near as well.
Now, he was here again, wandering the blasted fields of a place he hoped he would never see again. The fog was just as he remembered it, rotten and heavy in the air, hugging the ground and stirring in the stillness.

The Girl in the Storm
A Season of Angels Book 1

Seventeen-year old Genevieve Reidell loves to paint, and values her closest friends above all, but when a gunman terrorizes her high school, her near-reckless bravery sets her on a path that will change the entire course of her life. Her best friend is shot and dying but when Genevieve holds her, the bleeding stops and the wounds close. But when she tries to save another friend, she can’t. Overcome with guilt Genevieve struggles to understand.

But when a stranger arrives at her home with a mysterious book and an ominous warning, she learns about her destiny. Angels have protected her, but the time has come to unravel the mysteries that have haunted her for years. Genevieve must learn to harness and control her gifts and accept that whatever she does might not be enough. The Devil must be stopped, and Genevieve is ready to walk into the storm. She’s cheated death before, but can she save herself again without losing those she loves?

Chapter 11

“It is time we had a talk.” Michael walked forward and sat in the deep red chair Joseph had occupied and watched as his brother took a seat as well.
“Is it too late for that now?”
“Maybe.” Michael spoke, but neither of them knew whether it truly was or not. They were always inclined to believe that too much had been done to ever hope this gamble might change the course of what was yet to come. “But I would feel remiss if I didn’t try.”
“Would you believe me if I said that I had missed you?” Lucifer was a liar. Everyone knew that much about him, even if they didn’t believe he existed. But this... this was perhaps the first time in centuries he had told the truth without compunction.
“I would.”
Lucifer smiled then, a handsome smile that hinted at another side of him, lesser known and rarely understood. It might shock some people to think that Lucifer Morningstar had not always been the way he was now.

Christopher Stanfield is a West Texas native whose love of writing began at the age of fourteen, when inspired by a love of mythology, science fiction and fantasy, he began writing stories by hand whenever the time could be spared. After high school and a brief flirtation with college, he would spend the next eighteen years cultivating a career in Information Security at a small community bank located in his own hometown. But even then, his love of writing endured, and while dreams of characters and stories continued to occupy his imagination, he found an outlet for that creative muse by creating advertising copy for his employer. Through challenges and distractions, hard choices and the rudimentary demands of life, the dream of telling stories never waned. It was and ever remains more than merely a career. With that in mind, he enrolled in the BA Creative Writing program at Southern New Hampshire University, with an eye towards honing his craft and expanding upon his knowledge of the industry so that he might one achieve his dream of becoming published.

BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY ~ Dead Calm by Annie Anderson

Dead Calm
Annie Anderson
(Grave Talker, #3)
Publication date: June 29th 2021
Genres: Adult, Urban Fantasy

There’s not enough coffee or tacos in the world to deal with Darby Adler’s family.

If it’s not her death-dealing father, her back-from-the-dead mother, or her ghost grandfather, it’s her long-lost siblings and their bid for power.

With the ABI radio silent and her siblings to find, Darby’s got a major problem on her hands—especially when the local coven figures out that her father is no longer bound.

Can Haunted Peak, TN handle this family reunion?

Goodreads / Amazon

I needed a vacation.

That was the headline that blasted across my thoughts as I stared at the note that had been so carefully placed on my counter. I was supposed to be going on a teensy getaway with Bishop. After the bullshit we’d gone through over the last few days, taking some time off had seemed paramount. Taking a brief pause from my contemplation, I found my shirt and yanked it back on before continuing my internal deliberation.

As I stared at the cardstock, the devil on my shoulder was making a solid case for ignoring literally everything in my life, packing a bag, and hightailing it to some undiscovered corner of the map with no cell service which could only be accessed by boat. At this point, I was considering moving into a yurt or something just to not have to deal with the utter shitshow that had become my life.

Angel Darby began arguing in favor of staying to find my psychopath of a brother, while Devil Darby was still painting pictures of Bishop and me wearing very little clothing in a hut on the beach, sipping Mai Tais. I had to admit, Devil Darby was winning that fight, hands-down. And what did the line “Your mother can’t protect you anymore” mean?

As far as I knew—and that wasn’t much when it came to Mariana, but still—she hadn’t done a damn thing to protect me a day in her life. This damn note was a taunt—a dare. And I didn’t like it one bit.

Without much thought on my part, I yanked a paper towel from the holder and picked up the note to inspect it. There wasn’t a damn clue to be had on the thing, at least not to my naked eye.

You know that means you could just pretend you never saw it, right? Just drop it like a hot potato and scamper off to a cabin in the woods with Bishop.

See? Devil Darby had a solid plan.

And what happens when X doesn’t just stop at notes? Then it’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre time with a side of Halloween for dessert.

And there was Angel Darby coming in for the buzzkill.

BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY ~ Generation of Vipers by Maria Ann Green

Generation of Vipers
Maria Ann Green
Publication date: June 18th 2021
Genres: Adult, Gothic, Psychological, Thriller

Rosabella Moore-Davis has just moved her husband halfway across the world, with a spur of the moment purchase–a glorious gothic mansion–while on vacation in France. It was love at first sight, and somehow she knew it was more than just some huge house; it was meant to be her home.

But not all things that are meant to be end happily ever after.

Rosabella soon finds herself waking in the middle of the night from more than just wind and creaking pipes. In the dark she discovers ghostly figures looking up into her windows from outside, rooms and treasures previously hidden for centuries, creeping crawling guests, and too many dark shadows lunging toward her. And still, somehow, instead of screaming and running away she researches, choosing knowledge over fear, and learns more about the house and the history of this place she loves so much.

Only when she stumbles into the past, meeting an aristocrat hiding enough deadly secrets to take down the patriarchy, does Rosabella start to regret her choices. And after having come this far, she worries it’s too late to turn back and save herself from a house that has more skeletons in its vast amount of closet space than anyone expected.

Rosabella isn’t the fleeing type, but she’s not sure she’ll survive the fight. Especially against a place with so many stories buried beneath it, burned into every fiber of the edifice, a house with a portal to dark places and troubles that shouldn’t be stirred up.

Generation of Vipers is a mix of crimson peak and Mike Flanagan’s Haunting of Hill House, with elements of Marisha Pessl’s Night Film mixed throughout.

If you like dark thrillers that border on horror, gothic elements, and deliciously dark twists that will keep you guessing, then Generation of Vipers might be your next favorite book. It’ll keep you reading just one more page all night long, too afraid to turn out the light and go to sleep.

It appeals to lovers of suspenseful plots, all things dark like thrillers and horrors, stories with murder and mayhem, dark romance elements, fans of American Horror Story, Shirley Jackson, Gilian Flynn, Ruth Ware, Tana French, J.A. Konrath, and the Timothy Blake Series by Jack Heath.

A clatter of too many noises all at once. Like the banging ofspoons on pots and pans, something that elicits flinching and sour faces, making my ears ring and a little dot of pain form just behind my left temple.

Tierney screams. It mirrors the burst of sound that came from me in the library. Or rather, as I exited the library.

“Oi!” Alice yells as she stands upright in one shot. It knocks the chair over that had, just a moment ago, been holding her up. And now it’s on the floor.

In the very same movement, Tierney is jumping up too—though she manages to scoot her chair back just enough in her scramble to prevent it from crashing down and adding to the chaotic noises. And my neck is sure to hurt for days from the whiplash I’m putting it through as I try to figure out what exactly is going on.

Tierney had been in the process of bringing her glass to her lips for a slow sip, but instead, the green liquid is now all over what had been left on her plate, all over the white linen runner on the table. But worst of all, it’s all over her beautiful dress now too.

I can only imagine what it will do to the fabric, stickiness will be the least of her problems.

But finally, finally I see why almost every other person has jumped up from the table, scooting to the outer edges of the spacious room.

My eyes widen first and then narrow to slits as I watch a huge spider crawling across the cream tablecloth. When its feet find the Chartreuse, it skitters to backtrack. Running into the obstacles of flatware and continued screams, the huge black thing doesn’t seem to have a plan for what to do next.

Tierney’s shrieks subside, but once they do, I can hear Gabriel’s running monologue that had been covered until now. “Merde. Salope. Enculer. Merde, Merde, Meeeeerde,” he mumble-shouts, like his body can’t decide between the terror, wanting to yell, and the need to keep the thing from jumping at him in surprise from a sudden burst of curse words.

Finally, his panic takes over, and like his wife, Gabriel, the last to move away from the chaos and toward the safety of an exit, knocks over his chair. Only when his crashes to the hard floor, it’s not just the sound that erupts.

From beneath Gabriel’s plate skitter several more spiders. Three, no four, five—six more spiders start dancing across the spilled food and soaking fabric. These are bigger ones. Fat with the bloat of recent meals. And even from here, almost as far as I can be from them while still sitting at the table, I can see they’re hairy.

The kind of critters that fill nightmares.

Author Bio:

Maria, a badass USA Today and internationally bestselling indie author, lives in Minnesota despite the frozen winters. Actually, she prefers snow drifts and icicles over summer and all that sweat running everywhere. She writes about bitches, breakups, and bloodbaths – not in any particular order. She lives with her husband and little family, which includes a few lazy cats who make great lap warmers. You can usually find her whishing that she lived in a secret cabin in the woods where she could be a hermit reading and writing all of the time. Instead she lives the suburban life where she pretends to her neighbors and the other moms around that she doesn’t swear like a sailor, have hidden tattoos, and loves a good bottle of wine. She absolutely believes in unicorns and ghosts and hopes vampires and monsters are real too. She’s a coffee-in-the-morning and alcohol-in-the-evening kind of person, preferably with a nap in between. Maria prefers cats over dogs, books over people, and late nights over early mornings. She probably shouldn’t talk to anyone until she’s had her first cup of coffee, extra sugar. And if you ever want to hang out with her, you’ll have to be game for a horror movie or just a quick run to target for two (hundred) little things. Also, you couldn’t pay her to be in her twenties again; Thirties is where it’s at. She’s a creative, mouthy, introverted, proud bisexual, highly-sensitive INFJ, chronic pain spoonie warrior, Slytherpuff, dork with a sweet-tooth.

Maria devours books, reading mostly in bed or listening to audiobooks in the car. Writing has been one of her passions for pretty much her whole life. So creativity is a necessity for her, always. After working in the mental health field for almost a decade, she’s now living her dream as a stay-at-home writer, kiddo wrangler, professional snuggler, and constantly-tired-person. When it comes to her writing, she specializes in dark and twisted thrillers or gritty, angsty contemporary romances. But no matter the genre, she always prefers writing deeply flawed characters with dysfunctional relationships. She’s pretty sure the whole “unlikable character” thing is a conspiracy because every character she loves have been labeled this way. Ridiculous. And because of this, she’s pretty much found it impossible to write anything without at least a little mayhem.

Maria was once told she painted with her words, and that phrase stuck with her – because writing really is an art, and good stories are true masterpieces. She’s always trying to grow and improve in her craft, shooting for a masterpiece of her own someday. And she plans to write forever because writing gives Maria the ability to disappear into new worlds and create people within twisting plots, all from the comfort of her couch. She will always believe that though not every story is for her, and her stories aren’t for everyone, every story has a reader.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

Dr. Medina took his time in the room, reading her chart. He set it down on the counter in front of her bed, and Valentina took the opportunity to turn to me. She mouthed, oh my gawd, dropped her jaw, and fisted her hands to motion humping the air. My eyes widened with alarm, and I begged her to stop, waving her down as discreetly as I could. Dr. Medina didn’t notice a thing.

“Valentina, I look forward to being on your care team.”

“Thanks, Doctor,” she said while batting her eyelashes. She was so obviously flirting with him, and I couldn’t help but smile. I approved of anything that would bring her spirits up, and if that was Dr. Medina, then I would gladly throw him into the fire.

Dr. Medina caught me grinning like an idiot as we walked into the hallway. He rolled his eyes. “Stop,” he said sternly.

“Stop what?”

“You know what.”

“You must get that a lot, Doctor,” I said, batting my eyelashes just as Valentina had. His eyes narrowed. I only stopped when I noticed the set of his jaw, and I wondered if he was too stiff and serious for a bit of joking banter. I checked myself and schooled my face back to its professional side.

“I apologize, Doctor. I forgot myself. If it makes you feel any better, that’s the first time I’ve seen Valentina smile in weeks. Her spirits have been really low. With all due respect, if interacting with you will help her emotionally, I’m willing to sacrifice your dignity a bit to her whims. On the whole, she’s harmless.”

“I feel used, Dr. Ramirez,” he said before turning to walk away from me. He shook his head all the way down the hallway, but I could swear, even by just looking at the back of his head, that he was snickering.
