SALE BLITZ & GIVEAWAY ~ Perky by Julia Kent

Perky
Julia Kent
(Do-Over, #2)
Publication date: July 30th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

AN ALL-NEW STANDALONE FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR JULIA KENT

One hundred years ago when I was young and impulsive (okay, it was five, alright? Five years ago…) I let my boyfriend take, let’s just say…compromising pictures of me.

(Shut up. It made sense at the time).

Surprise! The sleazy back-stabbing jerk posted them on a website and, well, you can guess what happened. That’s right.

I’m a meme. A really gross one.

You’re seen the pictures. And if you haven’t – don’t ask. And don’t look!

As face recognition software online improves, I get tagged on social media whenever anyone shares my pictures. You try getting a thousand notifications a day, all of them pictures of your tatas.

So. I’m done.

It’s time for revenge. Let him see how it feels! But how do you get embarrassingly intimate pictures of your jerkface ex who double-crossed you five years ago?

Especially when he’s a member of the U.S.House of Representatives now?

Getting sweet between the sheets with a congressman is pretty much every political roadie’s dream, right? I’m one in a crowd.

Except to this day, he swears he didn’t do it. Pursued me for months after I dumped him five years ago. Begged me to take him back.

And I almost did it. Almost. I was weak and stupid and in love a hundred years ago.

Okay. Fine. Five.

But I still have the upper hand. Second chance romance has all the emotional feels, doesn’t it?

I can’t wait to punch him in the feels.

All I need to do is sleep with him once, take some hot-and-sweaty pics of him in… delicate positions, and bring him down. That’s it. Nothing more.

Pictures first. Revenge after. And then I win.

At least, that’s how it was supposed to happen. But then I did something worse than sexting.

I fell in love with him. Again.

Hit by the Cupid Stick
Abigail Owen
(Brimstone Inc.)
Publication date: February 1st 2022
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

All’s fair in love and…whatever this is.

This Valentine’s Day, when a cupid accidentally shoots himself with his own arrow, he falls for a siren whose only job is to lure men to their deaths.

Charismatic and irresistibly fun, Chance Eroson is a cupid who gets a kick from pairing odd couples and being right about them. Used to getting his way, the only person who shuts him down is the siren who has ruined more than one of his pairings before they started. But his bigger problem is he wants her. He’s always wanted her.

Elodie Sirenian uses her power for good, only hunting evil men. But after so long, and so many horrible people, her cynicism has settled deep inside. She can turn on the charm when she doesn’t mean it, and they fall for it. Every single one. Every single time.

Except Chance. He’s the only person—man or god—who has ever challenged her.

But a cupid’s magic is temporary. There’s no way a true love match is possible. Not this time.

EXCERPT:

“Who are you after?” she asked. She even used a pleasant tone of voice.

He stepped in closer, spinning her stool so she faced the bar, then closer still. Not touching, but she could feel the heat of him, the length of him, at her back. He leaned down to put his lips to her ear. “Him,” he said in a low voice.

It had been a long time since a simple whisper had turned her on. She saw the worst in men. Even if she didn’t kill them, she could still read their auras. Their lust with no emotion. Their aggression. Their manipulation. All of which made it difficult to rev her engines. So the fact that her nipples tightened, pressing against the silk demi-cup of her bra was…distracting to say the least.

“That’s not helpful,” she said dryly. “As usual.”

His chuckle didn’t help the nipple situation any, sending a surge of warmth cascading through her.

“Three-piece suit.” Chance picked up her glass. “The one who just bought you a drink. Although, if he has his eye on you, it might make my job matching him a tad more difficult.”

Elodie’s muscles unknotted slightly. At least she wasn’t going to have to argue him out of this one.

“With who?” Curiosity popped the words out of her mouth before she could stop herself.

“Banana yellow shirt in the back corner.”

She searched behind three-piece-suit and found the woman in question. Not only was the lady’s shirt bright yellow, but so was her aura. Elodie smiled despite herself.

“I take it you approve?” he asked.

How did he know? He was standing behind her.

“Otherwise, you’d immediately argue.”

How did he do that? She knew a cupid could read the minds of humans—helped with the job—but he couldn’t do that to her or other supernaturals. But the laughter in his voice told her he’d still managed to read her reaction regardless, and knew she’d be irritated about it. He didn’t know that the irritation was because it meant he knew her better than she wanted. Dangerous to let him that close.

“Stay very still,” he said next.

Elodie frowned and started to turn, except a glittering golden bow and arrow appeared at her side, arrow already nocked.

He had to be joking. “Here?” she drawled. “You’re going to shoot them in a busy bar? Really?”

“They’re lined up perfectly. I couldn’t have picked a better shot.” His voice was harder now. Focused. Sexy. If that’s how he sounded in bed…

She shook off the thought.

“Hurry up.” She had her own job to deal with.

“You don’t rush love, baby girl.”

“Call me baby girl, again, lover,” she snapped. “I dare you.”

No answer to that. She wished she could see Chance’s face.

“You’ve been on the shelf for a few years now, but I’m back to claim you and won’t be stopping until you’re a dripping, sloppy mess at my feet.”

My heart skips a beat with his tempting words. They drag me back to a time where I would have dropped to my knees and volunteered myself to be the mess he wants me to be—and done so happily.

Except, I’ve changed. My hands come up and shove at his chest, noting the texture of leather beneath my palms. He allows it, falling back a step.

“Is that what you want, Ryker? Is that what it’ll take to make this all go away? If we fuck, will you be able to move on? One last trick and we can both go our own ways.” I tame the anger from my voice, aiming for rational instead with my next words. “You’re a free man, Ryker. You can start the life you should have had. Do it. Don’t waste more of your time on me. Let’s move on.” I swallow before adding, “High school was fun, but we’re long past that stage in our lives.”

Silence. Not the he-doesn’t-want-to-say-anything silence. No—the deadly, I’m-ready-to-fuck-you-up silence instead, but I hold firm, biting down on my bottom lip to avoid disclosing how he makes my legs go weak with the desire to respond to his authority.

Right when I think I’ve won, my head thumps on the wall behind me, and the breath I do have gets trapped in my lungs as his grip clamps down tightly on my throat. White spots decorate my eyes instantly and my hands fly up to his, nails scratching at his skin to get free.

“Listen to me, doll. You do not make the decisions here. You do not deem when we’re done. You. Are. Mine. You have been since the first day you walked into high school, and you can thank—” He breaks off, continuing to keep his secrets to himself. “We’re not finished until I say we are.”

“Phoenix.” His name came out as a happy sigh on her lips.

It was silly, but Phoenix always made her feel better even though he wasn’t real. She was flooded with an almost euphoric pleasure at seeing him. There was always pleasure, but it was stronger today, almost overwhelming. Him. A voice in her head screamed out. He was staring at her, wide-eyed, as if he was experiencing the same euphoria she was.

She needed to escape, not moon over her imaginary lover. It was hard to think with him around. Phoenix was even handsome in the harsh lighting of the room. The stark cheekbones that were too pronounced for a human but gave him an almost elfin quality stood out against his sea-green skin. His full lips were pressed into a thin line of worry. Frown lines creased his brow as he looked down at her. When he knelt beside her, his long hair shifted across his arm. The silver beads woven into his braids clinked softly against the intricate armband that encased a toned bicep.

Her imaginary lover reached out his hand, and a long finger ran a silver claw across her cheek. It was unnervingly solid. Usually, his touch was feathery, light, and surreal. The claw scratched gently against her skin. Goose bumps broke out over Kiera’s body. His touch did things to her that made her want to tear at his clothes. Her clothes too. Just the light touch sent her body melting. This couldn’t be happening right now. She must have hit her head in the crash to be hallucinating like this.

Kiera slapped his hand away from her face. His hand was warm and real. She must have hit her head really hard. “Later, boy toy. I’ve got to get out of here.”

She gave the apparition a wink and a smile to temper her rejection, then laughed at herself for worrying about hurting a nonexistent person’s feelings. Pushing herself up to her feet was more difficult than she thought it would be. Imaginary Phoenix rose and helped her get up. Interesting how an apparition can be so helpful.

“Boy toy?” Phoenix’s voice was laced with disdain, and his hands were still wrapped around her waist. Usually, she would have pulled away from anyone touching her by now. If he moved his hands upward, they would touch the beginning of her scars. But this was Phoenix. His touch didn’t bother her. “I’m not a boy, nor am I a toy.”

Kiera swayed and then righted herself as she finally got her legs to cooperate. “I’m sorry, Phoenix. You’re right. You’re not my boy toy.” She patted his sea-green cheek. It was slightly prickly like there was a little stubble coming in. That was new. “You’re the best damn lover I’ve ever been with, even if you aren’t real. Now I have to get out of here before the Atlanteans find me. Who knows what they plan on doing to me. So, unless you have an escape route planned, you need to poof out of my mind for now. Pretty please? I gotta think.” Her fingers left his cheek to travel down to his chest, and almost involuntarily, she squeezed the firm flesh she found there.

He didn’t disappear.
