Excerpt
“C’mere,” Brandon said. And when
he reached for me, I felt myself stagger into his body. He was soft, but solid.
His body was unfamiliar, stronger, much stronger than Jeffrey’s. Jeffrey.
Was it possible to miss someone so much it hurt?
Brandon wrapped his arms around me
and I felt his fleshy lips land on my forehead, soft and gentle like falling
into a pillow.
I didn’t realize I was
crying until I heard a sob fill the empty hallway. He brought his finger to my
chin, exactly how Jeffrey used to. My stomach stirred. My heart stumbled out of
my chest, landing in a broken clump on the carpet. Carefully, he brought his
face closer to mine like if he handled me any differently I’d break apart. His
breath danced on my lips when he said, “You don’t have to cry about him
anymore.”
