Nina straightened her back. “I trust the system will keep him away from me.”
He wouldn’t tell her about his efforts working outside the system. That would be his secret. Or at least the specifics. Luke had been wise enough not to ask for details. “Are you okay here tonight by yourself?”
Her face grew pink. “I wish I had the guts to say no.”
“Say no.” His lips brushed her cheek, and he inhaled. Why did she have to smell so good?
“Yes.” Nina pulled away and shook her head. “Yes, I’ll be fine alone tonight.”
Pushing down a groan, Colin grinned. “Then I should leave.” Leave before you push your luck and she kicks you out.All he wanted was to taste her again and feel her melt under his touch.
She walked him to the door, then gave him a strong hug before he headed out. “Your patient needs you more than I do. Good night, Colin.”
After giving her a gentle kiss on top of her head, he left with the deep sense of longing. He needed Nina—more than anyone else in the world.
