And we're ecstatic to have one of the authors in this writing duo join us today! if you haven't started this incredible series yet the first book, THE BURNING STAR, is available for just 99Cents for a limited time only!

Interview

Welcome to Kelly P’s Blog!

Hi Kelly! This is Mel from the Jessie Lane duo and I just wanted to say thanks for having me before we get started.

How did you come up with the title of your book? The title is actually something Crystal came up with. Each book is named after its main character, how they tie into a certain family affiliation via a certain nautical star birthmark, and their ability or fae power. The Burning Star is for Kay and her scorching fire while the The Frozen Star represents Kay’s freezing touch.

Who designed the cover of your book? Crystal designs all of the Jessie Lane book covers. She enjoys the challenge of flexing that creative muscle in trying to recreate a character in a picture for readers to see.

How long did it take you to write this book? Too long actually, but after all the personal things I went through at the same time as trying to write this book, I would say seven months total of actual writing and research.

How do you cope with writer’s block? Music and lots of coffee. I tend to daydream a lot because I’m playing a scene in my head like a movie. I keep rewinding it and watching it from different angles with different lines to find the perfect match.

Do you have a favorite line or quote in this book?  It’s a line Kane says to Kira during one of their intimate conversations. “One. Only One. And only one woman will ever see them. Do you understand what I’m trying to tell you my Princess?”

What inspired you to write this book? Wanting to see the characters overcome the obstacles in their paths. I saw it happen a few different ways and I wasn’t sure which path I was going to take until I finished one scene and started the next. Sometimes it felt like the characters took over my body and wrote themselves.

Describe the cover in 10 words or less.  Haunting, cold and beautifully distant.

If you could sum your main character into five words, what would they be? Strong, Curious, Independent, Beautiful and Survivor.

If your book was made into a TV series or Movie, which actors would you like to see playing your characters? I would have to say that for Kay I would like Shailene Woodley. She’s a great actress and I love her work in Divergent and The Fault in our Stars. She would just have to dye her hair really red. For Kira I can see Saoirse Ronan with her blonde locks. Have you seen her in Hanna? She was awesome. And for Skye I think Emma Stone would rock.
What are you working on right now? In case you missed the announcement made on the Jessie Lane website, I’ve decided to depart from Jessie Lane to pursue other things. Right now I am currently working on a few solo projects and a collaboration with my brother. I am starting my own romantic comedy that I am aiming for the first two books to be out by fall and a zombie apocalypse novel which will be the first in the trilogy, will be available soon.

The Frozen Star
Book #2 in the Star series
by Jessie Lane
Release Day: May 29, 2014
Blurb:
The journey continues:
Kay had discovered secrets, lies, shocking truths, and even love in a strange new world hidden from humans. Everything she thought she knew was turned upside down when she found out three things:

- She wasn’t human.
- She has a power she can't control.
- And there was a possibility that she had found a way to cure the cancer that was rapidly killing her with that very same power.

Then, just when she was on the precipice of gaining everything she wanted and saving her own life, tragedy struck. Will she be able to fight her way back to Ryan and save herself in the process?

Kira had lived a terrifying and confusing life of servitude and abuse under Lord Donovan and his son, Cole. It was an existence that had stripped away her emotions, and eventually, her reason to keep fighting. Just when she thought freedom was within reach, Lord Donovan struck again, ruining her plans and almost killing her in the process. When she awoke from her injuries, it was to stunning revelations that would change her life forever. Changes that she was not entirely sure she wanted to embrace.

Persistent individuals such as Prince Kane refuse to let her walk away, though. Will she embrace all of the sudden fortune in her life? Or will she walk away from those who need her most, forsaking their acceptance and love?

Release Day Blitz {Giveaway} Autumn and Summer by Danielle Allen

~ Synopsis ~

Is it better to have loved and lost or to have never loved at all?

Sexy, successful and stylish, Autumn Jones believes in love. She believes in the all-consuming, mind blowing enormity of love. She believes in the euphoric state of loving and being loved. She believes in it because she’s had it once. And when it was lost, she was devastated, but she never stopped believing in the existence of love. Unwilling to settle, she learned from the past and moved on with the expectation that she’ll love again.

Beautiful, talented, and slightly jaded, Summer Wilson believes in sex. She believes in the all-consuming, mind blowing enormity of good sex. She believes that love exists, but Prince Charming does not. At least not for her. She’s seen the downside of love—insanity, heartbreak, infidelity, divorce—and she dates with the expectation that she won’t ever subject herself to that type of vulnerability. Instead, she chooses to love her family, her friends, and her work. And although she enjoys the company of men, her heart is hers and hers alone.

Best friends since elementary school, Autumn and Summer kick off the summer by embarking on a dating experiment. Unfortunately, expecting the unexpected doesn’t prepare them for what the dating world has in store.

  ~ Author Bio ~

Life is good!

I am a married event planner and life coach. My awesome friends and family and my amazing husband make my life sweet. I love to have fun and enjoy the life I’ve been blessed with. I love shopping and football with equal fervor. I’m an amateur movie critic (i.e. my husband and I watch and critique a lot of movies for fun). I love to read and I enjoy sharing my love of books with anyone who will listen. I love music. A good lyric with a good melody can paint a vivid picture and invoke such a range of emotions. I have a soft spot for most mediums of creative, artistic expression.

With degrees in psychology, human services, and marriage and family counseling, I have a unique perspective on life, love and the pursuit of happiness. As an author, I combine an active imagination and life experiences to create stories that are easily relatable and intentionally intriguing. I want to offer you a peek into someone else’s life and for you to get lost in their story, their trials, their triumphs. My ultimate goal is to create a character or a story that stays with you long after you’ve put the book down.

So in a nutshell: I plan. I teach. I read. I write. I watch. I critique. I shop. I play. I love.

To know me is to love me.

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.

Two Seattle 16-year-olds, Jatred and Jasmira, are not your typical star-crossed lovers. They are not even your typical Shape Shifters. Sure, they try to live an ordinary life. At least, as ordinary as the Prince and the Princess of the rivaling ancient Races--the Winter wolves and the Summer leopards--can live. But eventually they learn that not much about their existence can be normal. Especially when the Races' two commanding Goddesses are involved.

One of the Goddesses is on a quest to tilt the scale of power to her side. The other will never let it happen, even if it means kicking Jatred and Jasmira's love to the curb. Nothing is off limits, including removing Jatred's memories of Jasmira.

To complicate things even more, there are the Universe's powers to consider. They are trapped in an ancient Amulet in order to protect the stability of the world. But the Universe has a mind of its own, and when the powers are unleashed, the forces of nature are disturbed; earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions shake the Earth. All Shifters of both Races are summoned by their respective Goddesses to fight in the name of, or against, the normalcy of the world.

When I was seventeen, I disappeared. I walked out the door of my apartment with a backpack and never looked back. I left the life of Cora Mitchell behind, seeking freedom from my real-life nightmare.

But my freedom came with a cost. I lived a fictitious life for the next six years, never letting anyone close enough to see underneath the façade that was Andra Walker.

I was content with my simple little life.

Until I met Julian.

And the moment I started allowing myself to open up, allowing someone to see through the superficial, was the very same moment the Monster from my past would return to find me.

About the Author-
I am married with two boys. When I’m not changing diapers or cutting food into tiny bites, I escape to Starbucks for hours.

I love music and have a playlist for everything.

I like watching creepy shows when I am home alone but then I instantly regret them once my mind starts breeding irrational fears.
