synopsis

Lila Carmichael is a good girl, a high-achieving academic, punctual to a fault, unfailingly conscientious – and embarrassingly inexperienced. After graduating from Princeton, Lila moves to New York City and begins her job search. Innocent and naΓ―ve, she is swept away by an uncharacteristic bloom of total abandon as soon as she meets the tall, dark-eyed CEO of Wolfe Enterprises. Under Alexander’s potent influence, Lila is thoroughly transformed from demure virgin to lusty goddess in just two days. Given her upbringing, it’s only natural that Lila would be attracted to such a pinnacle of stability, but as emotion and lust entwine, she begins to question the motives behind her covetous, hedonistic desires. Alexander Wolfe needs a new assistant to help him run his publishing empire. One rΓ©sumΓ© in particular catches his eye and he decides to interview the candidate one-on-one in his private penthouse office. When a green-eyed goddess walks in, Alexander, for the first time in his life, finds himself powerless to resist. The difficulties of his past ensure that his protective instincts are fiercely attuned, and Lila’s vulnerabilities, combined with her nubile body and voracious new appetites, only succeed in ensnaring Alexander past the point of no return. Set in New York and Paris, Lila and Alexander’s connection is a whirlwind of lust, love, jealousy and obsession. Will they find their happy ever after? _________ BILLIONAIRE (Complete Book) is approximately 310 pages. It is a serialized eBook originally published as a series of chapters; It contains adult themes, strong language and sexual situations, and is intended for adult readers.

Billionaire Funfacts

1. Alexander never had sex without a condom until approximately twenty minutes after he meets Lila.

2. Lila graduated from Princeton in three years with a 4.0 GPA. This is not obvious during her job interview :)

3. Lila ran away from home when she was ten years old. Alexander’s past is equally dark. Instant, white-hot lust draws them together but it’s their damages that bind them.

4. When Alexander first takes Lila shopping at Barneys, the total cost of her new clothes, boots and jackets (unbeknownst to Lila) was $78,000.

5. Alexander is a talented surfer.

6. Alexander’s favorite band is the Rolling Stones. He also likes Mozart.

7. On poker night, Alexander wins more than $350,000. Lila’s jackpot that particular night is more … physical in nature :)

8. Alexander owns the New York City skyscraper he lives in. He also owns two Maseratis, two limos, a Maybach, a Ferrari, a Ducati, two Lamborghinis, a yacht and a Gulfstream jet. Aside from his Fifth Avenue penthouse, his other residences include a hotel in Paris (where he takes Lila), a mansion in the Hamptons, an island in Maine, spacious studio in Key West, a beachfront condo in Hawaii, a city block in Houston and a bungalow in Malibu with a 12-acre vineyard and a view of the ocean.

9. Alexander’s brother Jake is guilty of insider trading and his favorite food is apple pie. These details will become relevant in the next book(s) [Jake will also get his own book (BADBOY, Billionaire #3).

10. The ring Alexander buys for Lila costs one million dollars. He buys it at Tiffany & Co.

Blog Tour {$100 Giveaway} The Only Boy by Jordan Locke

  The only boy
The Only Boy by Jordan Locke

Mary is stuck in Section One, living with three hundred women in a crumbling hospital. She wonders what life was like two centuries ago, before the Cleansing wiped out all the men. But the rules—the Matriarch's senseless rules—prevent her from exploring the vacant city to find out.

Taylor's got a dangerous secret: he's a boy. His compound's been destroyed, and he's been relocated to Section One. Living under the Matriarch means giving up possessions, eating canned food and avoiding all physical contact. Baggy clothes hide his flat chest and skinny legs, but if anyone discovers what lies beneath, he'll be exiled. Maybe even executed.

Mary's never seen a boy—the Matriarch cut the pictures of men from the textbooks—and she doesn't suspect Taylor's secret. If she knew, she might understand the need to stop the girls from teasing him. If she knew, she might realize why she breaks the rules, just to be near him. Then again, she might be frightened to death of him.

Taylor should go. The Matriarch is watching his every move. But running means leaving Mary—and braving the land beyond the compound's boundaries.

Luckily for Lucy, her dream charity runs right up to her doorstep in the form of a sexy Canadian musher who’s in town to help organize the local sled dog race.

Not so luckily for Lucy, sexy Canadians and detective boyfriends do not a happy mixture make.

Interview

How much of a story did you have in mind before you started writing?
I usually know the basic set-up. My Dusty Deals Mystery books happen in chronological order from one book to the next. The first book, Loose Screw, was set in the spring. So the next was a summer book. Then I pick an event to have during that time. So, Loose Screw had a jazz festival in it and Cut Loose was during the rodeo. This then gives me an idea for either the killer or the victim.

Let Loose was a winter book. So, of course, I had to do a sled dog race. That led to the victim and the various motives for killing him.

How do you cope with writer’s block?
I haven’t had a ton of issues with writer’s block for most of my books. Let Loose was, however, one of the few that I did. Mainly it was because of things going on in my personal life though and nothing to do with the book. Sometimes you just have to give yourself permission to not write and do the other things that need to be done.

Is there a message in your writing you want readers to grasp?
Every book has a message. With the Dusty Deals books I give my main character some issue she is dealing with in each book. It isn’t a preachy “do this” kind of message, but it is definitely some lesson for Lucy to learn or personal fault to grow past.

What is a typical writing day like for you? How many hours do you write per week?
I really don’t have a typical writing day. In addition to writing, I teach writing and do ebook formatting for other authors. Since specific people are paying me for those things and expect the jobs done in a set time, I have to give them precedence. I might go a week without writing to get all of that cleared out of my inbox and then dedicate myself back to whatever book I am working on.

How much of yourself is hidden in the characters in your book?
There is a lot of me in most of my books. Maybe not my personal strengths and weaknesses, but certainly my past experiences and people and places that I have encountered through life. Lucy actually lives in a house that I lived in and many of her tastes/preferences come from my own. It makes it kind of funny when someone writes me and tells me she can’t like a certain thing or think a certain way.

Have you always wanted to be a writer?
I wrote poetry in high school. Then I went to college and got a degree in journalism. I had an emphasis in advertising, however, and really didn’t take very many writing classes. Because of that I always felt I needed to tell people that I wasn’t a writer. Then when I decided to stay home with my daughter, I started writing. I felt funny about it for a long time, like I was a bit of a fraud. I’m not sure who I thought writers were...

At what age did you discover your love of writing?
In high school.

Do you have an agent?
I’ve had two agents in my career. At this time I do not.

Can you describe the feeling when you saw your published book for the first time?
I sold my first book to an editor from Kensington Books at a writing conference. I didn’t know I had sold it at the time, of course... just that I had pitched it. Two weeks later she called to buy it. That was my big moment. It felt surreal. That for me far outshone the experience of seeing my first book in print.

Blog Tour {Excerpt & $50 Giveaway} Scents and Senses by Loren Secretts

  scents
Scents and Senses: Supernatural Friends.
What the fairy tales didn’t tell you

Playing the role of a knight in shining armor is more complicated than it seems in the storybooks, as sixteen-year-old Joy discovers when she repeatedly comes to the rescue of a fifteen-year-old human. But when she meddles in the girl’s social life, Starra sends her packing.

Starra is determined to completely dissociate herself from the subterranean creature that has manipulated her life and cast her into the limelight. However, her resolve is soon tested when she becomes involved in a critical situation where supernatural assistance can enable her to carry out a daring plot.

Eventually, Starra’s involvement with her new other-wordly friends extracts a heavy price when she is beset by challenges that range from the down- to-earth struggles of a typical teenage student, to the realm of the fantastic. Nothing prepares her, however, for the ultimate challenge.

Excerpt

Joy

Ever since I’ve been old enough to kick off on a condor with my own two chicken feet, I’ve been drilled to mind my own business.

Mind your own business, the first of the American Ten Commandments.

It’s not one I subscribe to, even though in our community, not minding my own business means more than social suicide; it’s a crime when we ascend above ground.

For thousands of years we deeems have kept away from the creatures running over our heads with their five-toed feet. So if anyone in my community gets wind of the risky job I’m on these days, I’m practically a goner. But that doesn’t stop me from shadowing a certain teenage fivetoe.

There’s also a totally different occupational hazard involved in this position I’ve created for myself, one I’m suffering from right now: this job occasionally makes school seem relatively stimulating. Yawn. I’ve played too many Angry Condor games to count since Starra got involved in some fantasy book a couple of hours ago and lost contact with the real world. Even if I knew how to become visible to the fivetoe eye and suddenly revealed myself, I bet she wouldn’t notice me, the cute teen perched on her windowsill.

Time simply refuses to advance, and I have to resort to counting the spider eggs cocooned in their nest on a nearby tree branch. A sudden sigh interrupts my lame occupation. There’s a starry look in the big eyes, and I notice the novel is slipping out of Starra’s dreamy grip. This is my window of opportunity! I finger the starchy edge of the book jacket and coax the book forward.

Thud. The book falls to the floor, and the movement seems to bring Starra back to her senses. At last she grabs a hoodie and sets out, probably for one of her night excursions on the Vista Del Mar Path. Are we running or biking tonight?

Running it is. I jog behind her, finding the excursion by the shoreline an improvement to watching her read. At least we are moving.

She runs for half an hour, at a speed faster than the sea turtle pace usual for fivetoes. Then she slows to a stop at a jagged rock, half-submerged in the ocean. I groan quietly and contemplate leaving. From experience, I know she’ll climb to the top of her rock and dream away. I start backing off, but when I’m some fifty feet away, I look back. Starra makes a pretty picture there, her silhouette perched high on the rock. Her long legs are tucked under her, and her head hangs back as she keeps her gaze on the stars above. If only she would let loose the heavy dark mane of hair she always twists up at the back of her neck, she would truly look like a mermaid risen from the sea.

Something pulls me back to her. I can’t explain it, but I have a feeling trouble is lurking nearby, waiting to snatch her in its net.

My chicken feet make an about face and follow Starra home as she takes the shorter route through town.

Author Loren Secretts

Loren Secretts was raised in a book-filled home, in a sleepy east coast suburb of the US. These factors are undoubtedly responsible for her early design of a number of exciting imaginary worlds that she could escape to from time to time during her childhood.

In her teen years, between schoolwork and lending an ear to her friends, Loren had less opportunity to go AWOL. Instead, her experience as a confidant to others inspired her to major in psychology in college and earn her M.A. in the field on the west coast.

As an adult, Loren has found fulfillment in her work with children and families for more than a decade. Her passion for writing was revived when she discovered that she enjoyed delving into the human psyche to write psychological reports. But clients' reports are safe with Loren, who guards secrets fastidiously. Indeed, one of her aspirations is to work as a psychotherapist for the CIA, but since she now lives with her family in Canada, that dream will have to await its turn…
