THEIR SOULS, REAWAKENED.

When 13-year-old Lilix Morgan is found alive and floating on a bed of ice at sea, everyone counts it a miracle. Kidnapped nearly four weeks earlier, she remembers nothing of her mysterious abduction. When she tries to remember what happened, she hears only a melody - a faint and delicate set of notes, strung together in a tune she doesn't understand.

THEIR POWER, UNMATCHED.

A year later and desperate to put the lingering nightmares of her past behind her, Lilix crosses the country to enroll at Baelmorte Academy, aiming to become the violinist she once dreamt of. Things seem to be finally going well, and Lilix settles into a routine of sheet music and inspiration among new friends.

Then the dreams start.

The melody and night terrors she thought she'd left behind return with a vengeance, threatening to ruin her fragile version of normalcy. Then an unlikely ally tells her that she isn't alone. That there are others just like her, fighting to hide their own shocking truths from coming to light. That they know who she is, and what she's been through. Now, accompanied by four other girls, Lilix discovers her nightmares are larger than a single trauma; they're a window to a hidden part of her soul, a place of immense power with a destiny that cannot be ignored.

THEIR BATTLE, IS ONLY BEGINNING.

With this knowledge comes a new and frightening reality. For Lilix has been reawakened to stop an age-old enemy, one thought to have been destroyed centuries ago. Trapped by her destiny, Lilix is torn between what feels right and what she remembers. Her memories tell her of a star-crossed love waiting to be reunited, of friendships and trust broken in the past. But can she save that love when reality brings her an enemy, and an evil that will be the undoing of them all if they don't destroy it?

An excerpt from My Demonic Ghost - Banished Souls
I shook my head as a spasm of cold flooded my cheeks. Lock had my face cupped between his hands, staring with tight and intense concentration. He was only sparing an inch between my nose and his, his eyes so much prettier than those other grey, dead hues
that I lost all thought of abandoning him.

“Careful Rach, don’t stare at him.” The people sitting next to us recoiled
from our sudden closeness, confused by Lock who had seated himself up on
my lap and was forcing his head down on top of mine. My breath got caught
up in my throat as I folded my lips back into my mouth.

“Okay.”

Lock lingered for a moment longer, not breaking the connection he had with
me until he felt sure I wasn’t going to do a runner. He slipped back into his
own chair, fold his arms over his chest and resumed his intense staring,
watching my eyes. He then shifted and shot a look over his shoulder, which I
followed back to the face of the other Banished Soul who was evidently
laughing privately to himself. He blinked at Lock once before looking back to
me. Then slowly he lifted his wretched bone white hand, easing it down onto
the shoulder of the little girl standing next to him. To my horror, she tensed
at his advancement and glanced up, her neck tilting away as if cowering
from a slap.

“We should get off the train,” Lock insisted, shooting up from his seat.

“Can’t we do anything?” I asked in hoarse desperation but Lock shook his
head, intertwined his fingers with the folds of my sleeve and ushered me out
the doorway furthest from the pair.

I couldn’t stop myself from looking back, hoping that my eyes were deceiving me. The little girl tossed a worried look at her mum and reached out to touch her elbow, only to get her hand knocked away. The spirit continued laughing as the yellow lights in the
carriage flickered. The doors opened with a jolt and I was yanked out.
Lock kept pulling me forwards, not giving me a chance to call out. I wanted
to tear the girl away from the spirit’s filthy hands. The passengers getting on

the train glanced at us wearily, leaning away.

Blog Tour {Excerpt & Giveaway} Sebastian and the Hibernauts: Beyond the Gloaming by Brendan Murphy

Beyond the Gloaming Tour Graphic

Beyond the Gloaming
Sebastian and the Hibernauts: Beyond the Gloaming

It is Easter, 1973 and twelve year old Sebastian Duffy has some serious self-esteem issues. He is beaten by his parents, bullied at school, steals from his friends and still mourning the death of his brother. To cap it all, strange things have begun happening around him and he is finding it hard to distinguish dreams from reality. After a nightmarish assault, he wakes in the Gloaming, a shadow world inhabited by ghosts. There to greet him is Porrig, a creature from Hibercadia, a magical realm crafted from Celtic dreams. Inhabited by Fir Bolg, Tuath and Milesians, it has been overthrown by brother gods from another dreamworld. One brother, Phobitor, is a tyrant and even the Tuath, who took to their underground sidhe millennia ago, are concerned. Sebastian discovers that he alone can save Hibercadia by finding an enchanted spear. Teaming up with the Hibernauts—a mercurial sorceress, an orphaned druidess, a taciturn warrior, a snuff-sniffing leprechaun and a lovelorn poet—he embarks on a fantastical quest, but can he succeed when he is yet to find his magical potential or even his courage, and half the realm is bent on his destruction?

Excerpt

Sebastian woke to find himself on a hill overlooking a battlefield. Carnage reigned below as thousands of warriors butchered one another. They fought upon the dead and dying, trampling them underfoot, impervious to the heartrending screams. To keep upright was everything; few that slipped and fell rose again, yet still they writhed and slashed, frantically clinging to life.

Sebastian raised his squinting eyes to the duelling creatures overhead, darting specks against the blushing backdrop. How could he have slept in the teeth of such terror? He figured he must have zoned out as a precaution, to enable him to do what was needed, hours ago judging by the advancing sun. Why had he been asked to do this? He knew the answer lay tantalizingly close, just out of reach. Not that it mattered. He would do it anyway, though he had no idea why they needed a boy. As he shifted his feet and turned to look at his left hand, the chain mail dug into his shoulders and his stomach reared. There were his fingers, curled around the object that had brought him here. Something flew close by and called to him with words so indescribably beautiful, he could not understand an inner compulsion to ignore them. He sensed the presence of his friends around him, yet each time he turned to look they slipped from view, determined to watch from the wings. This was his moment. He heard a chant picked up. One voice, then a dozen, now scores, hundreds, thousands and finally the entire army reciting the words till they were all he could hear. It was in a foreign tongue, a language he had never learned, yet its words lay at the root of his being and he understood everything. It was time. The warriors began to beat their weapons against the ground until it shook. He felt the first vibration reach him and began to count. Wait for the ninth wave, he told himself as he raised his arm aloft.

Excerpt

Skylee crept into the room, carefully avoiding the open suitcases, shoeboxes and clothing scattered on the floor. Dressing for the wedding had created quite a mess. She had wanted to clean it up, but her almost stepsister insisted that her father had hired people to do such things.

As she approached the package, her pulse raced. Skylee normally opened a present slowly and carefully like a doctor performing surgery, but her excitement made her eagerly tear through the wrapping.

Inside, cushioned on a bed of crumpled paper, was a brown leather book bound with four gold rings. A diamond shape was carved into the front cover. She held the book close to her heart realizing that it could be her father’s journal, a look into his soul. Turning it over, she examined it more closely and tried to imagine him holding it in his hands. Despite her feeling of excitement, a deep sadness washed over her.

Skylee reached up and pushed back the heavy curtains, flooding the room with sunlight. As she opened the book, a musty odor filled the room even though the cover looked new. She thumbed through the crisp white pages to find page after page of strange hand written lettering, which appeared to be an ancient language. Skylee squinted at the lettering and tried to make out the words.

Holding the book closer to her face, she decided it was a language she had never seen before. Her heart sank in disappointment. It wasn’t her father’s journal. Why...she wondered...why did my dad want me to have a book that I can’t read?

Why do guys gossip in the locker room?

As a girl, wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall inside a men's locker room? Sure, who wouldn't want to catch a glimpse of some hot, chiseled bodies? But I'm sure the banter alone would be worth the price of admission. Girls usually get a bad rap when it comes to commiserating over, "Why didn't he call me?" or "Was it wrong to sleep with him on the first date?" But guys are just as guilty. They just do it in a different way.

I always like to include locker room scenes in my sports romance novels because it's a setting where guys tend to let down their guard, and open up a little. They're jockeying for position when it comes to bragging rights. It's where they find out who's getting laid and who's not. It's the place where sexual escapades get exaggerated and distorted. Guys say stuff to each other that they'd never say in front of their wives or girlfriends. They're not being PC in this type of environment, because it kind of goes with the territory.

When you get that much testosterone in a room and naked physiques are exposed and compared, things are bound to get a little heated. Some guys intentionally stir things up, while others remain tight-lipped, but no one gets away unscathed. Had a hot date on Saturday night? Get ready to face the firing squad. Some guys have the knack of just saying enough, without saying too much. Others tend to stick their foot in their mouths, looking to impress, embellishing details that should've remained private.

All guys want to be seen as the stud who scores. So does that involve some kissing and telling? What do you think? :)

Collette West grew up as somewhat of a jock-nerd hybrid. Entering the world three weeks premature, her dad nearly missed her birth because he had seats behind the dugout for a sold-out, highly-anticipated match-up between two of baseball's biggest rivals. Not to be outdone, her book-loving mom taught her how to read by the time she was three. A love of the game coupled with an appreciation for the written word were instilled in Collette's impressionable brain from a young age. No wonder her characters believe in the philosophy: sports + romance = a little slice of heaven.

Splitting her time between the Pocono Mountains and Manhattan, Collette indulges her inner fangirl by going to as many games as she can from hockey to baseball and downloading every sports romance novel in existence onto her iPad. When she's not clicking away on her laptop, she enjoys walking her dog in Central Park, satisfying her caffeine craving at the Starbucks on Broadway and keeping an eye out for Mr. Right. But above all, she loves dishing with her readers. Email her at collette_west@yahoo.com.

She is the author of NIGHT GAMES, GAME CHANGER and GAME ON.
