Spyder
By- David Fingerman
Genre- Suspense

Meet Spyder-a street-wise antihero of inner city society. Experience his strange wisdom, and his twisted sense of humor.Thirty-year-old Spyder doesn't waste time thinking how much lower he can sink. When he finds his girlfriend dead as the result of drugs he supplied, Spyder contemplates his life and decides it's time to do what he's avoided most of his days-join mainstream society. All he needs to do is kick the drug habit, find a job, a place to live, and earn some money. Easy. He's done it hundreds of times, but never all at once. As always, Fate steps in and knees him in the groin. All the dregs he's ever known want their say. George won't stop his pestering, Sal needs a huge favor, Coon is hunting for a certain arachnid, and Spyder's dealer doesn't want to lose one of his best customers. As things spiral out of control, Spyder tangles himself in a web so tight that even he might never be able to escape.

About the Author-
During the summer months when the sun is shining and birds are singing, David is perfectly content to sit in his office, with blinds drawn, typing away at the computer. His favorite day of the year is the first day toward the end of summer that’s cool enough to pull a flannel shirt from the closet.

As a student at the University of Minnesota, David realized that if he switched his major from journalism to speech, he could graduate that quarter. It was a no-brainer. After 24 years of working in the court system, he walked away to write full time – another no-brainer.

Two Degrees Closer to Hell will be his second collection of short stories. He has also written three other novels.

David is married and lives in Minneapolis.

Blog Tour {Author Spotlight} Daughter of Light Trilogy by Heidi Garrett

Isolt’s Enchantment: the beginnings
Daughter of Light Trilogy #0.5
By- Heidi Garrett
Genre- YA Fantasy/Faerie Tales

Long before the half-faerie Melia was born in the mortal world, the god Vulcan married Isolt of the Waters. When she betrayed him, the seeds of a great war were planted in the Void.

In Idonne, a young scholar studies Isolt’s story, along with tales of dwarf magic and the birth of a malevolent entity in the Void, Umbra. The stories awaken his dream of a life filled with adventure and heroism.

Half Faerie
Daughter of Light Trilogy # 1
By- Heidi Garrett
Genre- YA Fantasy/Faerie Tales

She doesn’t believe in love, and she doesn’t believe in herself.

The crucible of her parents’ dark ambitions will forge her destiny.

Her consciousness will be transformed.

The journey will be epic.

Melia is an eighteen-year-old half faerie, half-mortal who longs to fly like the full-blood faeries. She also yearns for a life that's truly her own, which might prove more difficult than sprouting wings. Her faerie mother practices black magic, and her mortal father plots to bring war to the enchanted world. No matter how she tries to escape their long shadow, Melia is unable to distance herself from her parents’ obsessions.

After the half-faerie is accused of being her father's spy, her friend advises a trip to the Illustrator. The mysterious woman marks Melia's forehead with a strange emblem. She claims it will draw a young priest from distant lands who will come to the half-faerie's aid. Spooked rather than comforted, Melia dismisses the woman's words. Rather, she travels to the mortal world to confront her father.

Whimsical and edgy, Daughter of Light is a spinoff of the 14th century French fairy tale “Melusine.” A high fantasy with fairy tale elements and an intriguing cosmology, it's a great choice for readers who have loved Lord of the Rings.

Please tell us about yourself using 3 verbs, 1 quirk and a pop culture addiction

3 Verbs: Discover, Contemplate and Entertain

1 Quirk: When I get excited, I repeat myself. I’ll make the same point over and over, without even realizing I’m doing it. It’s embarrassing.

Pop Culture Addiction: Femail.com

Who do you consider the most swoon-worthy man in the literary world? Aragon from Lord of the Rings. How about on tv/in the movies? Christopher Plummer as Captain Von Trapp in the Sound of Music. You see, since I have met my husband, men on page and film simply cannot compete!

Top 3 Pet Peeves

My hearing is acute, so almost any kind of constant/loud noise can set me on edge.
  1. When I go to the grocery for one of my food/drink staples—and they’re out!
  2. Spots/stains on clothes! My grandma was legally blind. I hated when she was dressed in clothes with spots/stains on them.

What’s the last song you listened to?

Gosh, I just don’t keep up with music as much as I used to … so I don’t know the name of the last song I listened to!

How do you come up with character names?

I often start with an online name search. After I settle on one or a few, I’ll play with spellings until I come up with a variant that feels right. I also like to use interesting names of small towns. How do you come up with novel titles? I try to think of something that will best describe the whole story in the shortest amount of text.

Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author? Feed your love of story. Daily.

Splice Publishing
160 pages

Seventeen year old Amber Reynolds is looking for freedom and independence from her ridged lifestyle. Going behind her parents’ back, she takes a part-time job at the renowned Inn located within Ambrosial Acres.

Between Amber’s new coworker crushes, her menacing stalker, a mysterious online stranger, and the evil Agents out to lead her down a path of self destruction, Agent Yagil faces the fight of his career.

Life is all about choices. Can he help Amber make the right ones, before it’s too late?

Excerpt

Suddenly, inactivity transpires within the suite, giving it a graveyard ambiance. Phoebe, Josh, and Amber become stiff as statues—the result of what happens when time freezes.

Something lifts me up into the air.

I can’t believe it! It’s the orb!

Face to face, we begin to spin in slow motion. “Who are you?” I demand. But it doesn’t respond. We pick up momentum, and again, I ask, “Who are you?” Still no response. “If you do not reveal yourself to me, I will report—”

I let out a gasp as I drop to my knees.

I find myself mesmerized by the intense gaze between Josh and Amber. I snap out of it, and scramble to my feet, searching for the orb.

It’s gone.

A bright light blinds me, as if someone had just snapped a picture in front of my face. I squeeze my eyes shut, and then I open them, squinting as I adjust to the natural lighting streaming through the French doors.

Time unfreezes and then everything continues where it left off.

“Hi,” Josh says, his brown eyes sparkling.

“Hey.” Amber smiles, her dimples sinking into her cheeks.

Wonderful. Now there are two boys who have captured my subject’s interest, making my job more difficult.

Phoebe is right about one thing—there is definitely some sort of magnetic force radiating over Ambrosial Acres.

They Call Me Alexandra Gastone
Release Date: 05/20/15
Full Fathom Five Digital
226 pages

Summary from Goodreads:
When your life is a lie, how do you know what’s real?

Alexandra Gastone has a simple plan: graduate high school, get into Princeton, work for the CIA, and serve her great nation.

She was told the plan back when her name was Milena Rokva, back before the real Alexandra and her family were killed in a car crash.

Milena was trained to be a sleeper agent by Perun, a clandestine organization from her true homeland of Olissa. There, Milena learned everything she needed to infiltrate the life of CIA analyst Albert Gastone, Alexandra’s grandfather, and the ranks of America’s top intelligence agency.

For seven years, “Alexandra” has been on standby and life’s been good. Grandpa Albert loves her, and her strategically chosen boyfriend, Grant, is amazing.

But things are about to change. Perun no longer needs her at the CIA in five years’ time. They need her active now.

Between her cover as a high school girl—juggling a homecoming dance, history reports, and an increasingly suspicious boyfriend—and her mission in this high-stakes spy game, the boundaries of her two lives are beginning to blur.

Will she stay true to the country she barely remembers, or has her loyalty shattered along with her identity?

Praise for They Call Me Alexandra Gastone:

"An intricate, debut spy thriller...readers will keep turning pages, and the surprise ending will have them anxiously awaiting a sequel." —Booklist

“…the intersection of action, espionage, and drama makes for solid…entertainment: readers will gladly sit back and watch Alexandra navigate the obstacle course that comes with playing her role too well. It's a strong debut for New Zealand author Maclagan.” —Publisher’s Weekly

“Death-threats, global takeover, double-agents, hidden files and a blown cover—by the time you get to the shocking conclusion of this cliff-hanger, you won’t know who to trust…” —Girls’ Life
