BLURB
An otherworldly, evil and dangerous force infests America’s oldest and most haunted city, St. Augustine, Florida. Everyone living there, or visiting, is at risk in ways too horrible to imagine.
Standing between this invader and the people of St. Augustine are teenagers Jeff and Carla, the mysterious Native American shaman, Lobo, and Lyle, the homeless guy.
In their quest to save themselves and all the inhabitants of this ancient, Florida city, Jeff and Carla uncover lost parts of St. Augustine history, push past the limits of space and time, and encounter what they come to realize are the true walking dead.
EXCERPT
Lobo says all people can have doubles given the right circumstances. Some you can see, some you can’t. Some you can touch, and others, your hand goes right through them.
Can you understand now, why, when I was with the other Jeff in my, our, house, I wasn’t really surprised?
Right after I touched the first Jeff and he screamed, I found myself standing again outside my old house with my eyes open holding the crime scene tape.
Feeling a hand on my shoulder, for a split second, I thought the hand was from even another Jeff. And that seemed comforting for some reason, like a huge weight rapidly lifting off my body, allowing me to breathe more deeply.
Slowly, my fingers release the tape, and the knot in my stomach just … went away. At the same time, a single tear ran down my face. Seeing mom’s body again and watching myself scream in horror had taken its toll.
Yes, weird, but that’s what happened.
It took me until that moment though, to recognize the hand on my shoulder was Lobo’s. Only when he saw that recognition did he let loose of my shoulder.
He stared into my eyes for a few seconds, his good old unblinking, fiery gaze. Nodding slightly, he said, “Good. Now you’re ready.” Telling me nothing more than that, he turned around and walked away, waving me to join him.
