Synopsis
Ursula Marlow thought she was done with death, but when her fiancĂ©, Lord Wrotham, is arrested on charges of treason, her world is turned upside down. It is the winter of 1913, and the British Parliament, unsettled on the question of Home Rule for Ireland, is shaken over allegations of a plot to sell naval military secrets to Kaiser’s Germany and liberate Ireland from English rule. For the first time, Ursula must work together with Chief Inspector Harrison to uncover the truth about Lord Wrotham’s involvement, as well as his mysterious past.
As the investigation continues, Ursula is drawn into the shadowy world of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and a web of espionage and betrayal. She must race against time to clear Lord Wrotham’s name and thwart a plot that threatens not only British national security, but also her life.

Interview
Any
other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
I am working on a number of projects at the moment,
including reworking a manuscript for a historical mystery set on the home front
during World War One, and finishing up a draft for a middle grade book that has
‘alternate’ history elements. My goal for this year is to complete both of
these. I love exploring new genres such as children’s and young adult fiction
but am always drawn to historical fiction (though I am expanding my historical
range beyond the Edwardian era!).
Tell
us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Receiving
emails and letters from readers telling me how much they love my books and the
character, Ursula Marlow. It feels amazing to know your imagination has somehow
become tangible and had an impact on someone else.
What’s
one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Be persistent. Turning up, sitting down at your desk
and finishing what you start is half the battle. Sometimes the publishing industry
can feel like a war of attrition so you need to be prepared to stick it out.
Which
authors have influenced you most and how?
Dorothy L Sayers and
Georgette Heyer. Both helped inspire a love of history as well as mystery.
What’s
your favorite season/weather?
Definitely the Fall (or, as I call it, autumn). Here
in Colorado it is beautiful with blue skies, a little bit of snow on the top of
the peaks, and the leaves turning all shades of red and gold.
What
TV show/movie/book do you watch/read that you’d be embarrassed to admit?
I love
the movie Valley Girl from the early 80s and it’s embarrassing how many times
I’ve watched it.
Favorite
smell?
The smell of a hot, just brewed, cup of Irish
breakfast tea.
What
is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Although my accent makes me sound like a weird
Australian/English hybrid I was actually born in Canada!
Happiest
moment in your life so far
The day my husband and I welcomed our twin
boys into the world.
