About eighty yards away, FBI Agent Court Braxton guided his
company-issued sedan along the gentle curve of the residential street. He
glanced ahead and observed a man and woman looking upwardly at the sky. Not
knowing either Jeremiah Coltrane or Madison Leigh, he continued to observe the
couple as they turned to head in the direction of his car. However, the woman
instantly captured Court’s attention when the gap between them narrowed, and
without realizing it, Court stopped pressing the accelerator. He held his
breath, mesmerized as he watched absolute perfection walk closer. No matter
what it took, Court Braxton made the instant decision to learn more about the
woman who was causing his heart to race and his palms to perspire.
Madison took a passing glimpse at the darkly colored automobile as it
crept along the street. She thought the driver might be lost and was slowing to
ask directions. It was then that a sudden flash of lightning instantly diverted
her attention.
