Macyn’s Awakening
Macyn McIntyre # 2
Genre- Romantic Suspense
By- S.L. Stacker
Macyn McIntyre’s search for Richard Jacobs and those involved in her abduction reveals much of her adult life isn’t as she was led to believe. With help from her past and present, she uncovers secrets about those close to her—secrets that may result in certain death for those involved.
New partnerships are forged as others end. Enemies become allies, and friends become enemies. The web of lies carefully constructed by others begins to unravel, allowing Macyn to close in on Jacobs. The deeper she dives into the past, the more she finds herself questioning her actions. Is she doing the right thing? Should she forget about this crazed man and concentrate on her new life with Devon? Death, a marriage proposal, and a phone call will make the decision for her.
Macyn’s Awakening proves life, happiness, and love are worth fighting for.
Excerpt
“Took you two long enough,”
David said.
“Fuck off, David. It’s been less
than five minutes,” Macyn said, irritated with his comment.
“Five minutes in this field
could be the difference between life and death. Next time, I expect you here
without delay.”
Macyn started to speak, but
Devon’s slight tug on her hand told her to let it go. She wanted to tell David
to go to hell, but she realized she could benefit from whatever information he
had.
“Now that we’re all here, I’ll
fill you in on our surveillance tonight. Brett, Reed, and I hung out at the bar
in the hotel where Jacobs is staying. We had drinks with him but didn’t try to
get any information. We wanted to get close enough to confirm he was still
staying there. He told us he was in town for the next week, and then it was off
to some exotic location for vacation,” David informed them while he distributed
photos of Richard Jacobs. “I think we need to have people watching him
twenty-four seven. We’ll start now with—”
“I didn’t ask you and F.A.R. for
help. I don’t work for you, and I don’t need your help. I’ll take it from
here.”
“Sorry, darling, but this is out
of your hands now. We’ve been hired to track down and eradicate Jacobs. It’s you
who’s no longer needed here. You may leave at any time,” he told her, giving
her a brief glance before looking away, dismissing her with his actions.
“As you wish,” Macyn said,
gripping the photo tight. She had a gut feeling they hadn’t been hired to kill
Jacobs. She knew he was doing this to try and push her buttons. She spun around
and pointed her finger at David.
“You may think you’ve gotten rid of me, but I
can guarantee you I won’t make this easy for you. You’ve messed with the wrong
woman,” she screamed, storming out the door and back to her room.
